General M.Div. Information
Prerequisite: Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 from
appropriately accredited school. Applicants who do not meet the minimum cumulative
GPA requirement may be admitted on probation until 9 graduate credits are completed
at 3.0 or above.
Applicants whose native language is not English and who have not earned a degree
from an appropriately accredited institution where English is the principal language of
instruction must receive a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based Test of English as
a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or 80 on the Internet based TOEFL, or its equivalent.
Total Credits Required = 90.
A minimum of 45 credits must be earned at Trinity. All courses are 3 semester credit
hours unless noted otherwise. A maximum of 45 credits may be satisfied via transfer
credit which may be reduced by up to 9 credits of Graduate Portfolio. The transfer and
portfolio courses must be relevant to the student’s program of study and equivalent in
both content and degree level of master’s level courses. Transfer (grades of “B” or
higher) for core credits must be from an appropriately accredited school and satisfy the
requirements of the core program. |

Assessment after completing all course work and prior to beginning RW 991 Mission
Outcomes Assessment. These are non-graded, non-credit assessments.
* Learners wishing to receive the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC)
certification must pass the NANC exams before taking BC 640 Master’s Biblical
Counseling Practicum. See their website: www.nanc.org. Learners are encouraged to

Major in Pastoral Ministry
Purpose: To apply biblical concepts and theological insights to pastoral ministry in the
local church through effective communication, counseling and administrative practices.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learners will increase in understanding of the Bible and its place in the development of church leaders and leadership.
- Learners will develop a consistent theology to be applied to daily life and ministry and articulated and defended before a watching world.
- Learners will develop skills of biblical interpretation and apply these to the study of Scripture, theology, and ministry.
- Learners will develop a passion for the mission of the church and contribute to its growth.
- Learners will explore a specialty area in ministry and leadership practice demonstrate expertise in leadership related to that particular area (i.e. youth, women’s ministry, preaching, conflict management, etc.).
- Learners will formulate a philosophy of ministry that addresses biblical and theological foundations; personal assumptions about pastoral care, the work and organization of the church, and pastoral leadership; and cultural implications.
- Learners will evaluate various practices in church and ministry as to their effectiveness and biblical soundness.
- Learners will create models of ministry that address current cultures and biblical foundations.
- Learners will apply sound leadership theory and practice to the multiplicity of church experience.
