EdD Degree – Specialization in Biblical Counseling

The specialization in the EdD degree is the focused area of study designed to prepare a student for a specific career path or professional goal. Courses in the major define the subject areas of expertise being developed by the student.
Specialization Core Studies – 24 Credits
Specialization Core Studies form 24 credits of the 48 credits minimum for the EdD degree Specialization in Biblical Counseling. Specialization Core Studies are from Biblical Counseling and Theology subject areas.
- BC 713 Advanced Principles of Biblical Counseling
- BC 808 History of Biblical Counseling
- Choose either course:
– BC 709 The Interaction of Secular Psychology and Biblical Counseling
– BC 714 Understanding Problems in Biblical Categories
- Choose either course:
– BC 726 Case Studies in Divorce, Remarriage, and Blending Families
– BC 804 Counseling Families in the Church
- Choose either course:
– BC 730 The Body and Behavior
– TH 730 Biblical Anthropology
- Electives: Any 3 courses in Biblical Counseling (BC) – 9 credits *
Biblical Counseling students will take BC 991 Biblical Counseling Pre-Program Assessment after completing RW 001 Trinity Tutorial and prior to beginning other course work. Students will also take BC 992 Biblical Counseling Post-Program Assessment after completing all course work and prior to beginning RW 991 Mission Outcomes Assessment. These are non-graded, non-credit assessments.
* Learners are encouraged to pursue remaining courses while in the counseling internship course.
Note: Students with only one year of relevant experience coming into the EdD Specialization in Biblical Counseling should take either the DMin Counseling Practicum or the Biblical Counseling and Training Internship before or during their Applied Dissertation work. This is an exception to the policy stating the second year of relevant experience could potentially be done during the first year of the Ed.D. program.
Program Structure – 48 Credits Minimum
A minimum of 39 credits must be earned at Trinity.
