BA Degree – Major in Youth Ministry

The major in the Bachelor of Arts degree is the focused area of study designed to prepare a student for a specific career path or professional goal. Courses in the major define the subject areas of expertise being developed by the student.
Purpose of the Major
To develop competent persons for the position of youth minister in the local church, a position grounded in a biblical theology of youth ministry, knowledgeable in essentials of leading and managing a youth ministry and other ministry programs, and able to guide the ministry relevant to the needs of youth and the church.
Learning Outcomes
- Learners will identify and discuss leadership and management essentials in guiding and growing youth ministry in the church.
- Learners will explore leadership and ministry issues related to other ministry programs in the church.
- Learners will describe and discuss needs of youth and the church to inform their leadership and ministry practice.
- Learners will specify and support a biblical and sound theology of youth ministry.
Major Core Studies – 30 Credits (15 credits must be earned at Trinity)
Major Core Studies form 30 credits of the 120 credits minimum for the BA degree. Major Core Studies are from Youth Ministry, Biblical Counseling, Conflict Management, Pastoral Ministry, and Christian Education subject areas.

[1] Learners may replace course with an elective in Biblical Counseling (BC).
