Accelerated Learning Model Ph.D. Programs
The Accelerated Learning Model requires the Ph.D. courses to contain research, writing, and critical inquiry Projects. The cumulative effect of these Projects reduces the length and research intensity required in the traditional Ph.D. dissertation at other seminaries and universities. Trinity's Ph.D. dissertation is designed to provide the Ph.D. candidate with a venue for academic, organizational and/or ministry reflection paper, related to the Focus.
Another feature of the Ph.D. programs is the option which allows you to "mix" the courses in Unit One Core with courses from your selected Focus Unit. This enables you to benefit from the Focus courses immediately. Advise the Enrollment Counselor of your course selection and sequence you want in Unit One and Unit Two.
For persons without a master’s degree entering the Ph.D. program, it is possible to earn a master’s degree with 36 credits along the way to the Ph.D. A minimum of 18 relevant master’s credits and 6 relevant doctoral credits must be completed at Trinity. Twelve credits may be satisfied via Graduate Portfolio (9 credits), transfer credit, or a combination of the two.
At Ph.D. level, the total learning experience requires face to face contact with faculty, and interaction with other doctoral students. To accomplish these educational components, it is necessary for the Ph.D. student to complete not less than two courses by attending Regional Seminars. Special arrangements will be made for Ph.D. candidates residing outside of the U.S.A. For information about courses, dates and locations, see the Seminar Schedule on this website. Contact the Seminar Department to discuss your options, including DVD Courses.
